I will show what and where ketoers should buy in Auckland to prepare a delicious Korean bbq meal and Japanese-style Yakitori chicken hearts and kidneys which fits the keto diet and approximate how much it cost.
Traditional Korean grilled beef/pork butter lettuce wraps need to use butter lettuce to wrap the meat inside with a thin slice of garlic and Korean sauce. We need to buy beef finger ribs $28/kg and pork belly $24/kg, both can be purchased in Wang Mart.
Korean sauce/red chilli peppers paste $4.5 can be bought at Wang Mart too, but most of the sauce and paste are not suitable for ketoers since the carbohydrate and sugar are always high. In this case, it is 8.92g and 4.38g per serving, respectively. Therefore, it is better to skip this sauce.
We can buy very fresh salad vegetables in Countdown and Tai Wah; it is around 2.5 each.
We can buy chicken hearts and kidneys at Sam’s Chicken and New World Supermarket around $8-11/kg. In Japanese-style Yakitori, we should season chicken hearts and kidneys with soy sauce, pureed ginger, pureed garlic, sugar and mirin. However, as a ketors, sugar should be avoided.
